Foundation Board Adopts 2026-27 Funding Priorities to Support Literacy and Career Readiness

The Foundation for Folsom Cordova Schools Board of Directors has adopted its 2026-27 funding priorities, marking an important step in the Foundation’s first full year of operations.

The approved priorities focus on two areas of student support:

Literacy Support: Up to $2,000 will be allocated to support literacy efforts, including school book-vending-machine programs and gifting books to schools to support positive behavior programs. This priority is intended to increase student access to books, encourage independent reading and support positive school culture.

Career Technical Education Graduate Scholarships: Up to $3,000 will be allocated for three $1,000 scholarships—one for an eligible graduating senior from each of the district’s three comprehensive high schools: Cordova High School, Folsom High School and Vista del Lago High School.

These first-year priorities are designed to provide meaningful, mission-aligned support to students across Folsom Cordova Unified School District while establishing manageable programs the Foundation can build upon in future years.

The approved funding priorities remain subject to available funds and future board approval of the applicable program guidelines and procedures. The board will next develop the details for how literacy support funds will be distributed and how CTE scholarship eligibility, applications and selection will be managed.The Foundation has already begun supporting students through efforts such as the Soaring Scholars school supply drive, which helped collect needed supplies for FCUSD students preparing for the new school year. The newly adopted funding priorities build on that early momentum by establishing focused areas of support for the Foundation’s first full year of giving.
